I am a textile artist based around the Fiveways area, but I am happy to take part in area of Brighton.
I starting my textile artwork about 5 years ago after having my first child. When my daughter was 1 years old she was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. With the extra care that she needed I knew I couldn't go back to my old job, so I started painting and making. Now I have an amazing little business making what I love, beautiful textiles. The name Freyelli is a mixture of my daughter's name and mine, because of her Freyelli was started, life can take you in unexpected directions!
I studied Fashion Design at Nottingham Trent University and subsequently worked in the fashion industry for 12 years before I started my textile artwork. As a fashion designer I travelled extensively across the globe, the plethora of cultures I had experienced have strongly influenced my current work. Through the subtle use of textile print, embroidery, embellishment and hand painted techniques, i hope my work brings to life the natural beauty and family life on the South coast and Sussex Downs.
I mainly work with hand painting onto silks and cottons, and adding mono printing with real plants and free hand machine embroidery. Depicting my family life here in Brighton and living by the sea.
I have a selections of original paintings, giclee prints, greeting cards, mugs, coasters, and cushions.
