I am a metal worker who cuts pictures using a plasma cutter. Recently I have been creating mandalas from disused circular saw blades. The shape of the blade and the detail of the teeth provide a perfect starting point for inspiration onto each unique blade. After studying fine art painting at Brighton University I began living and working on houseboats where I learnt many practical skills which I now apply in my work. One of my main interests is to apply an aesthetic pleasure onto mundane objects.
I studied fine art painting at Brighton University over ten years ago. Since then I moved to Shoreham by sea onto the houseboats and learnt many practical skills which I swapped for rent. I brought my boat seven year ago and taught myself many practical skills especially in metal (the barge is steel). Gaining practical skills has given me a confidence in materials which I lacked before. One of my main interests is to apply an aesthetic pleasure onto mundane objects. My inspiration comes from Oceanic and African artifacts and repetitive patterns found in Islamic architecture.
