I have just completed a degree in Ceramics from UCA Farnham where I became interested in Raku firing. My clay pieces explores what lies beneath the surface of everyday life, especially things that matter to me. We are living in a modern world but this year has showed how delicate the balance is between survival, loss and thin veneer of civilised society. I enjoy the elemental naked raku process where I can create images using fire, smoke and water. In the final stages a layer of slip and glaze falls off to reveal otherworldly images. I hope these primitive vessels will inspire conversation.
