Artist's description

Carpentry and woodwork have been my passion since the age of sixteen and I have been working in the industry for almost fifteen years. In 2003 I Served a 2-year Apprenticeship with the Norwegian Designer Petter Bjorn Southall (Award winning Scandinavian craftsman & designer) and worked with him up until 2010. I Then moved to Brighton and worked with Alun Heslop (designer & creator of sculptural pieces) at Chair Creative. whilst working with Alun I volunteered at Brighton and Hove Wood Recycling Project which is a great place to source rare and sustainable pieces of timber and built my own workshop entirely out of Reclaimed materials based in Woodingdean. I am in the process of working on Designing and making hand Crafted Furniture for private clients and exhibitions. I make a variety of different wood craft objects such as turned bowls, lamps, stools, and bespoke cutting boards all made out of local hardwoods such as Ash and Oak one of the many well known timbers. One of my clients is laurabartlettgallery based in London, they wanted a bespoke bench made out of solid Oak which was commissioned for Frieze 2012 New York art installation.
