I am an artist, maker and illustrator, working in mixed media, frequently using engraving techniques, drawing, metal leaf and glass.
After studying fine art to degree level in the early 90s, I progressed through a range of craft-based experiments, veered towards illustration, then more recently, back to crafts and making.
I try to use recycled, reclaimed and found materials as much as possible.
Recently, I have been using shells, pebbles and driftwood, collected from the beach.
The shape, colour and textures of the objects I transform suggest the designs I create for them.
I tend to draw on the natural world and organic forms, for inspiration. It often feels as if I am trying to capture and conjure moments of elusive beauty, before they are lost to us forever, in our threatened natural environment.
