I am a Brighton based artist and in my recent work, natural forms are paired with leading lines to create expressive abstract landscapes that evoke a sense of escape, serenity and distance. They are immersive paintings that represent my experience with nature; my curiosity and appreciation for it but also the feeling of bewilderment it stirs in me.
I enjoy experimenting freely with colours, exploring their relationship on the canvas as each piece develops. I use a pallet knife to apply oil paint; I scratch, scrape, layer, strip back and reapply to create depth, texture and give expression. This process often requires me to step back, reflect and return to the canvas whilst the composition evolves.
