My biggest joy in life comes from painting people, whether that's a portrait or a more scenic piece. I like to challenge myself to achieve an accurate likeness whilst keeping my brush marks lively, colourful and interesting. It’s the unexpected hints, marks and colours that can bring a painting alive.
An ongoing series of my work has focussed on my the rainy day commute, capturing people on their way to and from the office, in London and Sussex, walking or waiting for buses and trains. I love to capture the splashes of colour as umbrellas come out, or glistening pavements reflecting lights and shadows.
