The sand was collected from my local beach ‘Kwun Yam Wan Beach’, near Kwun Yam Temple (built before 1840 and dedicated to Guanshiyin, which means “The One Who Perceives the Sounds of the World”), on Cheung Chau Island, Hong Kong, a small magical pirate and fishing village island with no forms of transport.I took the sand home just up the road from the beach to be washed, cleansed, and placed to dry on the rooftop absorbing the natural energies from the sun and moon. The sand was then placed into a large glass jar for safekeeping. A smaller jar was filled with the same sand, which I kept with me for six months.Throughout these six months I left the sand at various beautiful temples for several days around Hong Kong to absorb positive healing energies. After six months the small glass jar of sand was poured back into the large glass jar to combine the positive energies, frequencies and vibrations.
On one wooden white washed board I drew 100 talismanic forms of the Chinese characters of Happiness, and on the other 100 talismanic forms of the Chinese characters of Longevity. (Every character is a different symbol)
Then I stuck the energised sand to each of the 200 characters.
Finally, I painted with titanium white acrylic, and framed with non-reflective glass.
The two pieces are minimal and contemporary, with very ancient meaning.
They are also a meditation and a reminder of happiness and longevity belong in ones kitchen, living and dining area.
Both pieces of art have been blessed several times.

About:
Tse has had an interest in art since a young age in school, practising calligraphy, and an interest in words and poetry, since living next to the birth home of Dylan Thomas, the famous Welsh poet.
Tse has lived life by the elements: earth, water, fire, air, and ether.A love of music took him to extreme environments, from the cold winds up on the highlands of Tibet, to the clear skies and warm waters of Latin Central America and The Caribbean.Since 1993 Tse has been a Polarity Therapy healer, using massage, diet, yoga, and bio-sonic sound therapy to heal people. He’s giving treatments to celebrities including: The Rolling Stones, Elton John, Sting, Jocelyn Brown to name a few. Over the past years he has been offering pre-natal, postnatal, natural induction, and fertility treatments with magical results. The art work Tse is now presenting has a large significance with his healing and life work. Tse says: “The subconscious has a huge effect of our daily life, and often needs conscious reminding of where we sometimes need to focus, such as happiness, extension of a healthy life, and contentment, with the assistance to look within”.This particular idea and concept has been in the making for 20 years. These particular pieces are 100 talismanic characters of the word ‘fu’ happiness, (each and every character means ‘happiness’).
The other one of the pair is 100 talismanic characters of the word ‘shou’ longevity, both to be presented side by side.
Both pieces are minimal and contemporary, with a very ancient meaning, the yin and yang of time and present.
Most Chinese people may recognise 2 or 3 of the characters as they are from ancient dynasties, they may however know the underlying meaning of these pieces.
For 6 months Tse placed the sand throughout various shrines and temples in Hong Kong to absorb positive energies, before adding to these art pieces.
