Mark paints in oils, working with perhaps just four or five colours. His subjects are mainly abstract and semi-abstract land and sea-scapes. He works with palette knives and rags to blend and drag the paint. At the same time, he might also make use of a knife to scrape or gouge the work to create lines of movement and dynamic.
Mark works to communicate the restless intensity of sound and movement within a scene as something continuously shifting. He wants the viewer to hear and feel as well as see so that what they experience is more like a narrative, something almost filmic. He exhibits in London, Bath, Brighton and the South of England.
