I am a Polish artist and have been living and working in Brighton for ten years, with my young son. I am really excited to show in the open houses for the first time.
Mediums: I am predominantly a painter, and work mainly in oils, from representational pieces to abstract works, and everything in between. I also love to draw and have a lot of work in pencil and ink as well.
Communication and nature: Having spent much of my early artistic development working plein air, I’ve developed a lasting fascination with the natural world and love to work with recycled and reclaimed materials.
Current focus: For me, making a painting is a multi-sensory experience and a meditation on meaning, explored through the process of creative discovery. I am currently developing a series of ten oil paintings exploring local nature and the influence of somatic and mindfulness practices on my creative process.
The inspiration behind the series is rooted in my personal search for belonging in the natural landscape, which has been especially meaningful as a migrant living away from my country of birth.
Background: I studied traditional oil painting and life drawing at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Since coming to the UK, I have continued to paint around my work as a massage therapist.
