I am a Sussex-based painter and mixed-media artist dedicated to the craft of original, handmade artwork. My paintings are a combination of abstraction and fine art. I paint mostly in acrylics and oils on canvases and wooden board. I create “backgrounds” using techniques such as marbling and acrylic pouring that create organic abstract forms, I also use a more structured approach based loosely on geometric patterns to make a variety of backgrounds. Complementing the backgrounds I paint portraits of both people and animals or conceptual scenes. British wildlife (although not exclusively) and people I have found inspirational feature heavily in my work. I believe in authentic art made by real people. I place great value in the struggle and the effort required to produce original artworks and paintings. I kind of wish it was easier but then … on the other hand I kind of don’t.
