I’m a Brighton-based artist working mainly in abstract painting and mixed media. My work comes from emotion, recovery and just trying to make sense of things through colour and movement.
I paint quite intuitively, often on a big scale, letting the materials do their thing rather than over-planning it. A lot of the work sits somewhere between chaos and calm — layers, textures, moments of mess, and then something softer breaking through.
Living by the sea has a big influence on what I make, along with places I’ve lived before. I’m drawn to colour, light and natural forms, but it’s not about painting them directly — more about the feeling of them.
I also use found and recycled materials quite a bit, just working with what’s around me and seeing what happens. It keeps things loose and a bit unpredictable.
Most recently I’ve been developing a new body of work during a residency at Phoenix Art Space, pushing scale and experimenting more freely with how I paint.
