My work is abstract, textured and instinctive, built through layers rather than carefully planned from the beginning. I use acrylic paint alongside unconventional materials including plaster, concrete, metal leaf, lace, sea glass, stones, pearls and found objects. These materials allow the surface itself to become an important part of the painting, creating areas that emerge, disappear and change depending on the light.
I’m drawn to deep, atmospheric colours — blacks, earthy browns, muted teals, plums and burnt tones — contrasted with flashes of copper and gold. Light is a recurring element in my work, often appearing to break through darker areas or catch unexpectedly across raised textures and metallic surfaces.
My paintings are deliberately abstract. I’m interested in creating a feeling rather than depicting a recognisable place or object. There is often something weathered, buried or rediscovered about them: fragments appearing through layers, delicate materials sitting against rough surfaces, and small details that only reveal themselves when viewed closely.
Each piece develops intuitively, with layers added, obscured and rebuilt until the painting feels balanced. The result is tactile, imperfect and atmospheric — work designed to be experienced differently from a distance and up close.
