My work explores the emotional and visual language of plants, flowers and the natural world. I am interested in the tension between observation and imagination—capturing the energy, movement and fragility of botanical forms rather than simply depicting them realistically.
Working across painting and expressive drawing, I build images through layered marks, loose brushwork and contrasting areas of colour, often allowing parts of the paper or canvas to remain visible. My paintings are vibrant and organic, while my darker drawings use gestural lines and limited palettes to create a more atmospheric, almost dreamlike interpretation of plant life.
I am particularly drawn to the way flowers and foliage can suggest memory, growth, resilience and transformation. Each piece develops intuitively, responding to shape, colour and movement as the work evolves.
I would love the opportunity to exhibit as part of Brighton & Hove Artists Open Houses, bringing an intimate collection of original botanical works into a home or creative space. My aim is to create work that feels both contemporary and approachable, inviting viewers to pause, look closely and connect with the natural forms within it.
