The central theme of my work is the reanimation of memories. I strive to capture that peaceful, reflective feeling you get when you flip through old photos of your life and holidays presenting them in a way that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly new.
I often draw inspiration from the faded colour palette of 1980s photographs and advertising, preserving the tones of the past. From a figurative style, sharp edges are important in architecture as the flowing nature of foliage, the sea, or the comfort of interior spaces. Gradients softly unfold with the help of airbrush techniques, blending in soft pools of light.
At the heart of my work is a deep personal connection to my maternal family and childhood summers spent in Galway, Ireland—specifically, the seaside suburb of Salthill along Galway Bay. My relationship with the sea is woven into my art, reflecting a lifelong fascination with its beauty and power. I also bring in a touch of the unexpected: palm trees, a symbol of my childhood obsession with American imagery, adding a surreal, exotic flair to the familiar Irish landscape.
