Hi, I’m Caroline. I’ve recently moved to Brighton and have been so inspired by the Artists Open Houses. I would love to be considered as a guest artist exhibiting in an established artist’s home.
My botanical photography reveals the hidden architecture of flowers—details invisible to the naked eye. Working with seasonal British blooms, I try to capture the velvet texture of petals, the geometry of stamens, and the way light moves through delicate membranes.
After fifteen years as an events florist, I know these flowers intimately. My photography transforms this familiarity into something new, turning everyday blooms into slightly more abstract studies of colour, form, and light. I’m particularly interested in the fine line between photography and painting—where the lens captures something so soft, so textured, it could almost be brushwork.
Each image celebrates both fragility and resilience. I’m interested in the temporary—catching flowers at their peak before they fade.
Though I’m currently focused on detailed observation, I’m keen to translate this into more abstract painting. I’m about to start an MA in Creative Practice to develop this direction.
I love the idea of bringing a few floral arrangements with me as my plus one, imagine your space filled with flowers, creating dialogue between imagery on walls and living blooms in the space!
