. I was trained to paint with oils onto wax at Mme Tussauds and later went on to have a rewarding and exhilarating 20plus year career in the film industry, as an FX painter/makeup artist. Being one of the first in England to paint and experiment with new products such silicone and resins.
This experience naturally transposed into my artwork always learning and experimenting.
After moving to Sussex in 2006 where I brought up my two children I trained in printmaking, predominantly etching. Inspired by the natural beauty around me I started foraging for plants to study which became an obsession and brought me closer to nature and wellbeing. Collecting both plants and memories from the Sussex Downs, where I now live. I have been experimenting with the use of elements using cyanotype to create sun prints as well as making natural inks, a slow nurturing process. I use layering and various techniques
which are both meticulous and whimsical.
INFLUENCE
My work has been greatly influenced by Arthur Rackham who captured the Sussex scenes through his beautiful, illustrated fairy tales in the late 1800s. His illustrations of flora and fauna encapsulate my feelings about the magic and mystery of the natural World.
I have been told there is an East Asian feel to my work. Which I can only assume comes from a distant childhood memory of living in Singapore as a baby and artifacts around my home growing up.
Nature is my biggest influence. I have a holistic ethos as a result and my work is often purchased for therapy rooms and evokes a sense of calm.
