I am a multimedia artist. I compose my pieces as visual colour-poems, translating intangible and often mysterious concepts, experiences, and emotions into abstract paintings, digital photographic images, and clothing.
My work is steeped in atmosphere, influenced by history, folk legends, fairy tales, and childhood memories. Growing up in post-Soviet Slovakia in the 90s, surrounded by Western toys and MTV, has shaped my visual vocabulary and colour sensibility. This influence is intertwined with a brooding intensity, perhaps inherited from my ancestors who lived through periods of occupation and struggle.
I explore my ‘Slovakness’ through my art, reflecting on how it contributes to my identity and sensibilities. This exploration manifests as a sense of nostalgia and introspection. By combining my fine art practice with a fashion background, I have cultivated an aesthetic rich in symbolism, gestures, personal mythologies, and stylized realism, all expressed through vibrant, synthetic colour palettes.
Through my practice, I reflect on the elements that have shaped my identity, striving to understand myself and others. My works emerge from a place of authenticity, celebrating the importance of rituals in connection to identity and belonging while honouring the fragility and resilience of humankind.
