I create striking ’tiled’ panels with subtle optical effects. The initial textures and colours are created in acrylic, driven by play and experimental techniques inspired by both macro and aerial photography.
The outcome of those experiments dictates the geometry used in the deconstruction and subsequent reassembly of the pieces, the value and depth of negative space, coordinated colour schemes and highlighted edges mainly using thread, to best show off the macro detail of the texture.
My latest creations are slowly transitioning further into 3-dimensions as I take further inspiration from architectural influences. Best seen in the flesh.
