My Outside the … collection is interactive art that challenges perception and sparks curiosity. Each piece is made up of 100 vibrant illustrations — each a fragment of a larger image drawn from the worlds of film, TV, adverts, animation, music, and even alcohol! The challenge? Guess what lies beyond the silhouette — what’s just Outside the….
From a distance, each work appears as a colourful mosaic. Up close, it becomes a playful guessing game that rewards a sharp eye and a bit of pop culture knowledge.
Inspired by the idea that you can’t truly understand something without seeing the whole picture, the original artworks are created using layered Perspex. The top layer contains cropped fragments; the full image is hidden beneath. Unsure of an answer? Step to the side — the full illustration is revealed through the Perspex grid.
The printed versions are based on the top layer alone, with answers in tiny text around the edge of the silhouette — perfect for the long-sighted!
The collection has since expanded to include If the Shoe Fits, Behind the Times, and newer works like Murmuration and Hove Museum. Bold, bright and brilliantly clever — art that invites conversation.
