Brighton-based Vaseema Hamilton (BA Hons/MA) trained in ceramics many years ago and has recently returned to pottery, creating a range of new work which is loosely inspired by the Brighton Peace Statue and her love of classical form, in particular Hermes, the Winged Messenger of the Gods. All her pots are made in small batches featuring unique, hand-painted, jazz-inspired designs, or bespoke glaze combinations.
They are all practical, functional, objects or they can just be enjoyed in homes and interiors which have embraced the concept of maximalist design.
Vaseema’s work is almost all hand thrown and lovingly embellished with slips, then hand glazed. Everything is made at the wonderful and welcoming Pottery Gagliano in Brighton.
