I am an independent ceramic artist working under the name Ant Kelly Creations, creating a distinctive and eclectic collection of handmade ceramics that combine playful nostalgia, bold design and a love of the unexpected.
Working from my garden studio in Bexley, I create a mixture of styles, from graphically illustrated ceramics inspired by pop-art and vintage biscuit designs, to more sculptural and decorative pieces. These include my hand-built ceramic gingerbread houses, hand-sculpted Raku-fired pumpkins and seasonal collections.
I enjoy exploring the relationship between everyday objects, memories and design, creating ceramics that are both visually engaging and full of character. Whether through playful nostalgia, bold graphic design or the more organic qualities of sculptural and Raku-fired work, my philosophy is to make pieces that bring a little joy, spark conversation and encourage people to see familiar things in a new way. Each piece is individually made, with its own personality and charm.
My work is predominantly small-scale, decorative and giftable, although I also create larger and more sculptural pieces. Prices typically range from £10 to £150, depending on the size, complexity and nature of the work.
I sell through my own website, at selected craft fairs and events, and through independent shops and stockists. My ceramic butterflies, bees and flowers for the garden are stocked at Sussex Butterfly Gardens, One Garden, Brighton (and Ditchling), and I am keen to build on these connections within the Brighton and Sussex area.
Brighton Artists Open Houses would be my first Open House experience, and I would be delighted to take part, bringing my colourful, characterful ceramics to a new audience and engaging with visitors who appreciate handmade work.
I would be happy to invigilate during either the May or Christmas festival period, subject to availability.
I am based in Bexley, South East London, and would be interested in opportunities in Brighton and the surrounding area.
